The Best Shoes For Fall

Just even looking at all those shoes, I’m getting so excited. Fall shoes just hit different. Don’t get me wrong, I love sneakers and sandals. Dresses with sneakers is a fashion moment I absolutely adore, but fall shoes can’t be beat. You can wear sneakers all year but fall shoes are special, just for part of the year. I think they are just so effortless and chic. The materials are warm and interesting, and the shapes are diverse and substantial. A sneaker is a sneaker, but there’s like 10 different kinds of boots. Now going through all the different types and all the fall shoes I’m drooling over, I’m just going to be focusing on the shoes that I’m seeing everywhere this year and I think are trendy but timeless. They are in in right now but they will also still be in fashion in 10 years.

The Comfies

Birkenstock Boston Suede Clogs

These two pairs are definitely the most trendy out of my picks. When I was in the 5th grade everyone had a pair of clogs but then they went out of style for like 10 years. I firmly believe though that a good pair of Birkenstock is always a good thing to have in your closet. I’m on my second pair of Birk sandals but I’m so jealous of the Boston style. It seems like the perfect fall Saturday shoe. You slip it on to go to the store or get coffee, if it’s cold you add cute socks. Easy peasy and just kind of fun.

Ugg Classic Ultra Minis

My middle school days are really coming out in this post because that was also when Uggs were all the rage. Everyone had a tall pair to wear with their skinny jeans and zip up hoodies, so cute. Uggs now though are all about the shorter cuts. The platform slip Tazz Uggs are maybe the most popular right now but I’m all about the Classic Ultra Minis. I’m too accident prone to wear platform shoes unless I absolutely have to.

Boss Lady Shoes

Okay maybe it’s just that I’m older now and into it, but this category is absolutely killing it this year. The strappy heels, amazing, the cute ballet flats, spectacular, the chunky loafers, what more could I need.

Sezane Paula Babies

Madewell Nettie Heeled Mary Jane

Both of these heels are very similar but come on, they are just so cute. They offer lots of colors options too. I can just picture them with a pair of paper bag work pants and a cool sweater. They just seem made for a librarian in the best way.

Onto flats, I’m loving the comeback of ballet flats. I think the strap on this Madewell pair breaks up all that skin that sometimes can look a little awkward. This other pair with the contrast toe I just adore. It reminds me of something Annie James would wear in The Parent Trap. I think both pairs are practical but classically stylish. They also seem like something you could wear in Paris and fit right in.

Steve Madden Belinda Flats

Mules are a hard one for me. As a tall person, I of course have big proportionate feet so sometimes mules can look a bit like clown shoes. Regardless, I think they are a go to fall shoe. They are substantial but detailed. I keep getting an ad for the heeled pair and I’m thinking about treating myself.

Boots Forever

I’ve written a whole post about my everyday fall outfit and boots are a huge part of that equation. Normally, I go for a Chelsea boot with a short heel but these taller, slimmer boots are really calling out to me. I can see them with a pair of wide leg jeans walking down the streets of New York or with a midi skirt that’s belted at the waist in London.
